How much does an online doctor cost in Australia?

Online doctor consultations in Australia range from $0 — when the consultation is bulk billed — to around $90 with some private providers. At Clinic Online, most Australians with a valid Medicare card are bulk billed for eligible GP consultations, so they pay nothing. If you're not eligible, the fee is a flat $45 for up to 10 minutes or $59 for longer consultations, with no subscription and no per-document extras.

The three pricing models you'll see

Australian telehealth services generally price in one of three ways: per-consultation fees, where you pay for each appointment; subscriptions or memberships, an ongoing charge whether you consult or not; and per-item form services, which charge a set price per certificate or script request, usually without a live consultation.

When comparing, check what's included. Some services charge separately for the consultation and then again for each document, which can make a low headline price add up quickly.

What you pay at Clinic Online

One transparent fee structure, with no subscription:

  • Bulk billed — $0 out of pocket for eligible consultations. Most Australians with a valid Medicare card qualify, and you'll know before the consult whether you're bulk billed.
  • Private consultations — $45 for up to 10 minutes, $59 beyond 10 minutes.
  • Weight-loss consultations — flat $59 (not bulk billed).
  • After 11pm, urgent care is bulk billed for every Medicare card holder.

Everything the GP issues during your consult — e-scripts, medical certificates, and specialist, pathology and radiology referrals — is included. There are no booking fees, subscriptions or document fees.

Why bulk billing changes the comparison

A price list only tells you the private fee. If you're eligible for bulk billing, the cheapest consultation isn't the one with the lowest listed price — it's the one that costs $0. That's why it's worth choosing a provider that checks your bulk-billing eligibility rather than defaulting every patient to a private fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The consultation fee — $0 if bulk billed, otherwise $45 or $59 — is the whole price. Documents the GP issues during the consult are included.

Is there a subscription or membership?

No. Clinic Online charges per consultation only, and bulk-billed patients pay nothing out of pocket.

What does an e-script, medical certificate or referral cost?

Nothing extra. They are provided within the consultation where clinically appropriate and covered by the single consultation fee — or bulk billed at $0 if you're eligible.

How do I know my price before I commit?

Eligibility is checked automatically when you request a consult — you'll know before the consult whether you're bulk billed.
