Speak to a GP Now — Get Your Prescription Now
An online prescription from Clinic Online is a legally valid electronic script (e-script) issued by an AHPRA-registered Australian GP after a real telehealth consultation — delivered to your phone within minutes and accepted at every Australian pharmacy.
Australia's e-script system means a digital token arrives on your phone (or email) the moment your Clinic Online GP issues your prescription. You simply show the token at any pharmacy — city, regional or remote — and walk out with your medication. No paper to lose. No second trip. No waiting for the post.
Critically, every Clinic Online prescription is issued only after a live conversation with a qualified Australian doctor. There's no online-only questionnaire and no "instant approval" engine. Your GP assesses your individual clinical picture, reviews your history, and prescribes only where it is safe and appropriate — the way good medicine is supposed to work.
One flat consultation price. No subscriptions, no form-based medicine, no hidden fees. You only pay for the consultation — your e-script is included.
Most straightforward GP consultations — prescriptions, medical certificates, single-issue advice and referrals.
Longer, more complex consultations — mental health reviews, multiple issues, chronic condition management or in-depth investigations.
Medicare: Medicare rebates may apply for eligible consultations — availability depends on your individual circumstances and current Commonwealth telehealth rules. Your GP will let you know during the consultation whether your consult is rebate-eligible.
No subscriptions. No form-based medicine. You only ever pay for the consultation you have — there's nothing to cancel and nothing recurring.
Telehealth prescribing is excellent for straightforward, everyday situations. Being upfront about the limits is how we keep prescribing safe and responsible.
A straight-talking comparison of the three main ways Australians get prescription medication today.

| Range of medications that can be prescribed | Most PBS formulary, where clinically appropriate for your case. See FAQ's | Full PBS formulary | Typically limited to a pre-approved menu of products |
| Repeat prescriptions | Issued after a short clinical review by your GP. Up to 2 repeats | Issued at a standard appointment | Available for approved products only. Typically No repeats |
| Schedule 8 controlled drugs (opioids, stimulants) | No S8s or S4Ds | Issued where clinically appropriate, under tight regulations | Not available |
| e-Script format (accepted at all Australian pharmacies) | Yes — SMS or email token, scannable at any pharmacy Australia wide | Usually (paper option still common) | Varies by provider |
| Medicare rebate | May apply for eligible consultations — check with your GP | GP & Clinic dependant | Rarely applies |
| Price (per consultation) | $45 up to 10 minutes (95% of consults); $59 beyond 10 minutes | Varies — average medicare gap fee $55 | From ~$26 to $90, but limited care and no on-demand real consult |
Comparison reflects typical patient experience — actual times, fees and availability vary by clinic, location and clinical circumstances.
The questions Australians ask most about getting a script online.
Yes. Electronic prescriptions (e-scripts) issued by an AHPRA-registered Australian GP are legally valid under Commonwealth and state legislation. They are recognised by every Australian pharmacy and treated exactly the same way as a paper prescription, provided they have been issued after an appropriate clinical consultation.
Antibiotics can be prescribed during an online GP consultation where they are clinically appropriate — for example a clear urinary tract infection in an otherwise well adult. Your GP will follow Australian antibiotic stewardship guidelines.
Yes. If you are on stable, long-term medication for a condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, contraception or a mental health diagnosis, your Clinic Online GP can review your history, check for any changes, and issue a repeat e-script. For some medications the GP may request a recent blood test or specialist letter before renewing.
Every Australian pharmacy — large chains such as Chemist Warehouse, Priceline, Amcal, Terry White, Blooms and Soul Pattinson, independent community pharmacies, and regional and remote pharmacies. You show the SMS or email token at the counter and the pharmacist dispenses your medication exactly as with a paper script.
GPs are unable to prescribe Schedule 8 and Schedule 4D drugs — for example opioid pain medication, stimulants, benzodiazepines, etc. These require an in-person assessment and are not issued via Clinic Online.
Usually within minutes of your consultation finishing. The e-script token arrives on your phone by SMS (or email if you prefer), and you can present it at any Australian pharmacy straight away. During very busy periods — for example winter or late evenings — there may be a short queue before your consultation begins, but the script itself is always issued in real time.
Your GP will tell you clearly during the consultation. If there has been a change in your health, a new interaction risk, or a new best-practice guideline, your GP may suggest a different medication, recommend bloods or a specialist review first, or ask you to book an in-person appointment. Safety takes precedence over convenience — always.
Medicare rebates for telehealth GP consultations depend on your individual circumstances and current Commonwealth rules. Your Clinic Online GP will tell you during your consult whether a rebate applies and, where eligible, will process the Medicare paperwork so the rebate flows back to your nominated bank account automatically.
